✦ A story about Courage

Unity is Strength

There was a farmer. He had four sons. As long as the sons were children, they ate together, played together, helped each other. But when they grew up their attitude changed. They no longer tolerated each other. They preferred to roam about with outsiders. If one of the brothers had hot exchanges with someone else, the other brothers did not support him and they simply left him. If the hot exchanges turned into blows, then they simply watched and did not come forward to protect their brother. The farmer saw all this and was very sad.

One day he called all his four sons. He gave them a bundle of four sticks and asked them to break it. All the sons tried one by one, but none could break it. He then asked them to untie the bundle and then he gave a stick to each son and asked him to break it. The sons easily broke the sticks. The farmer looked at their faces and questioned ? Did you understand, what I mean to convey ? The foolish sons shrugged their shoulders meaning that they did not get it. The farmer then explained lovingly, My sons ! as long as the sticks were together tied in the form of a bundle, you could not break it. But when the sticks were separated you could easily break them. The message I want to give you is that as long as you are united, no one can harm you, but if there are differences between you and you lose your unity, anyone can break and harm you. Remember that the unity is strength. Be it a family or a nation.
