Per chance a man got a hen which used to lay golden egg. The man did not know as to when, where and how he got the hen but when for the first time he saw the egg, he was just wonder struck. Although the egg was much smaller then the usual eggs, but it was of gold. When he went to sell it in the market, he got a very huge amount for it. He was very happy. Now every day, he was waiting for the moment, when the hen should lay the egg and he should go to the market to sell it and earn a lot of money. Gradually he became a rich man. He built a beautiful house of his own and also furnished it with all the needed comforts. He also made suitable arrangements for the safety and security of the hen.

When man is hungry, he only needs food to eat. But when he gets the food, then he wants variety of food.—different delicious dishes. When he starts getting all, he then craves for something still better. His such desire continuosly goes on increasing. The owner of the hen laying golden egg, also thought that if he had so many such hen, how good it would have been. He got worried to think that if the hen dies or gets stolen, it will be a very big loss to him. While the money pouring in gave him happiness, but the very thought of losing the hen made him miserable.

The more he was becoming rich, his desire to earn still more increased. But he could not find a way to fulfill his increasing desire. He thought that selling just one egg a day will take a very long time to become the richest. Suddenly an idea creeped into his mind. Why not I take out all the eggs from the womb of the hen and become rich overnight, thought he. Without seriously thinking the consequences of his such a move, he decided to execute the idea. Wasting no time, like a greedy dog, he caught the hen and pierced his stomach. Unfortunately, he could get no egg, but of course, the hen died. He also missed the one egg , he used to get everyday.
