✦ A story about Kindness

Be Learned but Be Wise

There were four friends. They were quite intelligent and toppers in different subjects. They were ambitious to do something great in their life. With such an intention, they left their homes and set out for doing something extra-ordinary. When they reached a crossing, it struck them that why not they go separately in different directions and try to get knowledge. And after a fixed time they should come and meet at a place and then tell each other about their acquirements and experiences.

All the four friends moved in separate directions. In different situations, they gained knowledge and as per the agreement, they gathered at the same place and explained to each about their attainments. Where they were talking, there was a heap of bones. One of the friends seeing the bones said that I can tell you that these bones are of a lion and I can also assemble them make them the structure of a lion. Others said, alright do it. And in no time, he carefully assembled and made the structure of a lion.

Then the other friend boasting of his attainment said that on the basis of the knowledge he has learnt, he can add flesh and skin to the body. The other friends said, please do it. He closed his eyes and repeated certains Mantras (the magic words). Soon the structure of the lion was filled with flesh and covered with the hairy skin. It was looking now a dreadful lion.

Then the third friend boasting of his attainment said that according to the knowledge he had gained, he can put life in the line. Two of the friends who had joined the bones, and added flesh and skin said, yes, yes, do it quickly. We want to test your knowledge. But the fourth friend said no, please don’t do that. Lion is a wild beast. If it gets alive, then it will kill us all. The two friends said, no no, it will not harm us, do not worry.

When the third friend was reciting Mantras to revive the lion, the fourth friend rushed towards a tree and climbed it fast. From the top of the tree, he again warned the other friends. But they did not bother at all.

The Mantras of the third friend gradually brought life in the lion. When the lion became completely alert, he lifted its head, yawned and then roared loudly. The sound echoed all around. The nearby animals ran away. The lion was very hungry. When the lion looked in front of him, he saw the three friends. He at-once jumped at them and one by one killed them. The fourth friend was watching it all from the top of the tree.

He felt very sorry for his friends, who misused their knowledge and lost their precious life good for nothing. He wished that they should have listened to his warning and climbed the tree like him and saved their lives. Much like electricity, the knowledge is helpful and dangerous too.
