One more Purush (the Male)
Our relation with the Lord is that of love and love alone. Some call Him Father, some call Him Mother, but most of the saints call Him Beloved (the Male) and consider themselves as His lovers (the females). For them the relation between God and the soul is that of Husband and Wife. Mira also loved Sri Krishna the same way.
Wherever Mira used to go, she used to keep herself in the company of the devotees and religious minded people. When she visited Vrindavan, she went to meet a brahmin named Jeev Goswami, who was a very respected person and a well known personality in the religious circle. He was a devotee of Lord Krishna and used to worship the Lord as a Gopi (the female lover), meaning that only the Lord Krishna is the man and all his other souls are like Gopies. Besides Jeev Goswami also used to observe austerity so much so that he would not see the face of any woman.
When he got the message that a devotee named Mira wants to meet him, he at once refused the messenger saying that he has taken a vow that he shall not see the face of any woman. Although Mira was much younger then the famous Jeev Goswami, yet she was quite mature in her devotion to the Lord. She immediately sent back the messenger with the message, “Considering your devotion to Lord Krishna as a Gopi, I was under the impression that in Vrindavan there is only one Purush---the Lord Krishna. But now I am shocked to learn that there is one more competitor purush present in your form.” First time in life someone and that too a woman had replied to Jeev Goswami with such a self-confidence. The veil of illusion at-once got cleared from his eyes. He came out personally and welcomed Mira with folded hands.
