✦ A story about Pray For Good

May Good Befall on All

Despite being ill treated by the general masses, the saints have always prayed for the Good of All. It is not because of any of their weaknesses, but it is purely because of their love for the Lord. They love all because the Lord resides in all. The history is full of their such instances:

Once Guru Nanak and Bhai Mardana were walking on a path, during their world tours. Mardana was left behind. Suddenly, a Seth (Rich man) named Karodimal, riding on a horse passed that way. He intentionally hit at the back of a Mardana with his leg, saying ‘Oh! You, the singer of misguided person, be out of my way.’ Mardana fell down.

Guru Nanak had moved quite ahead of him. When he looked back, he saw that Mardana had fallen on the ground and was trying to get up. He had been physically hurt too. Guru Nanak came to him and asked, ‘Mardana, what happened?’ Mardana pointed out towards the rich horse-rider and told as to how he had hit him with the leg, and called him the singer of a misguided person. ‘He has called you the misguided person and hit me with the leg’, said Mardana.

Guru Nanak said, What do you think about the man. Mardana said, ‘I wish the worst should fall on him.’ But Guru Nanak advised him, If you are my colleague, say Oh God, the one has done such a wrong to us, may good befall on him too. We should always pray for the good of all.

Similarly when the Lord Christ was crucified by the masses, he did not curse them, rather he prayed to the Lord saying, ‘God forgive them, for they know not, what they are doing.’

Similarly when the fifth Guru in the line of Guru Nanak was tortured by the officials, he too had miraculous powers and could save himself. But taking it all the Will of the Lord, he said, ‘Oh Lord, your will is dear to me.’

Similarly when Mansoor was given the Capital punishment by the priestly class just for uttering ‘Analhaq’, there was sound of ‘Analhaq’ repeatedly coming from his body even after his soul left it. Wherever his blood oozed on the ground, ‘Analhaq’ got written. They therefore burned his body. The sound of ‘Analhaq’ was coming from the ashes. The threw the ashes in the river Dajla. The river overflowed and the sound of ‘Analhaq’ was coming from the water. There was flood in the river and the water moved towards the city to sink it.

Mansoor knew that for killing him, disaster will fall on the people. So out of mercy, he had given instructions to one of his servants telling him that when they will throw his ashes in the river, the river will be flooded and will move towards Bagdad. At that time the servant was to show his Kurta (shirt) towards the river. Accordingly the servant did the same and the river calmed down.

The saints love all. They bless even their enemies. They are above the narrow thinking. They see the Lord in all. And love everything, the lord has created, be they human beings, animals, birds or other creatures. It may sound us strange but only the saints say ‘Pluck not the leaves of the trees, for it hurts them too.’
