✦ A story about Kindness

How the Crow Avenged

On the branch of a tree, a pair of crows had made their nest. They took lot of pains to collect the straws from here and there to prepare the beautiful nest. The she crow had laid eggs also in it. Unfortunately, there was big hole in the trunk of the tree which was occupied by a snake.

Once when the crows had flown away in search of food, the snake came out of the hole and climbed the tree. In the process, he just hit the nest of the crows with his tail and the nest fell down and got completely shattered. The eggs were broken. In the mean time, the crows also returned and seeing the disaster of their shelter, they shouted. A number of other crows also joined them, but none dared to go near the snake. The crows were boiling with rage but they knew that they cannot do anything against the enemy.

The crow wanted to avenge for all the harm done to its nest and eggs, but could not decide how to do it because the villain was too dangerous. With these thoughts in mind, the crow was flying, when suddenly it saw that a queen was swimming in a pond. She had kept her ornaments and clothes by the side of the royal pond. At once an idea flashed in the head of the crow. He landed at the place where the queen’s ornaments were kept. First he shouted with his usual caw-caw and then when he was sure that the ladies around have seen him, he picked the necklace of the queen and flew away. The queen shouted. Her maid-servants also noticed and they called the gaurds. The gaurds ran after the crow. The crow flew and flew and finally came to the same tree on which their nest was. The gaurds also reached there by the time. Before the gaurds could do anything, the crow dropped the necklace in the hole, which was occupied by the snake. The gaurds peeped into the hole and saw the snake. So before taking out the necklace, they first used their sticks to bring out the snake. When the snake came out, they killed him and took the necklace.

That’s how the poor crow avenged its losses
